The Mabuka Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering adolescent girls and disadvantaged women in Africa and Washington state to thrive by breaking generational barriers through education, exposure, and access to opportunities. Its work focuses on advancing reproductive health, addressing the impacts of climate change on women’s well-being, and expanding pathways to education, financial literacy, and leadership, while connecting communities with global partners and resources. By investing in women and girls as catalysts for change, the foundation aims to drive healthier families, stronger communities, and more equitable, sustainable development.

Thriving Mother-Daughter (TMD) Annual Retreat

Immigrant families often navigate the delicate balance between preserving their African heritage and adapting to life in the United States—sometimes creating gaps in understanding within families. The Mabuka Foundation addresses this through its Thriving Mother–Daughter Annual Retreat, designed to bridge these gaps by providing a safe, supportive space for meaningful dialogue, connection, and mentorship.

This two-day retreat in Auburn, Washington, brings mothers and daughters together to strengthen their relationships and empower young girls to thrive with confidence and guidance.
