Thriving Mother Daughter (TMD) Washington Program – Inaugural Event
From July 11–13, 2025, the Mabuka Foundation hosted the first-ever Thriving Mother Daughter (TMD) Washington Program at Black Diamond Camp in Auburn, WA. The gathering brought together 27 mothers and 27 daughters—including women of all ages who joined to celebrate the power of community, connection, and shared stories.
Themed “Building Lasting Bonds Through Personal Stories,” the program created space for honest conversations about the cultural and generational differences shaping mother–daughter relationships. Highlights included:
· Plenary panels led by daughters, offering moms a glimpse into how the next generation thinks and their expectations.
· Breakout sessions for mothers and daughters to foster intimate and open conversations.
· Outdoor bonding activities such as 3D rock climbing, Zumba and basketball for fun and strengthening connections.
· Keynote addresses from Dr. Fanny Nyaribo-Roberts, Senior Economist & Forecast Analyst for the State of Washington, and Dr. Roselyn Akombe, Chief of Peacebuilding Strategy & Partnerships at the United Nations.
The event was graced by TMD Global President Jackie Ongwenyi and her team from Minnesota, whose presence underscored the significance of this milestone. Participants left inspired, asking for more opportunities to nurture these vital bonds.
We are excited to announce that we will gather again on July 11–13, 2027 to continue this journey of building lasting mother–daughter connections.
